Katara Music Of Botswana

Ronnie THE MAN doing it !

Traditionally, Tswana speaking tribes of southern Africa have in most cases expressed their cultural music primarily through singing with clapping, drumming and dancing with leg rattles to emphasise movements.

A number of instruments have been adapted in recent times, including the four string guitar, locally called Katara, which is typically played from above or facing upwards.

Ronnie Moipolai is a prominent musician of the Katara. Have a listen as he plays some folk music from Botswana.
